Comparison of Interpretations

On February 23, 2006 Dr. Douglas Owsley of the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History presented the team's first conclusions of the phase 2 taphonomic studies conducted in July 2005. The American Academy of Forensic Sciences invited Owsley to speak during an evening of Last Word Society presentations. Phase 3 studies were taking place during the time of the talk, between February 16-24, 2006. Eighteen experts were involved in Phase 3 studies. Scientific articles with specific data and conclusions will be published when the team's studies are completed.

We present a preliminary comparison of the government-hired scientists conclusions, taken from DOI reports, and those presented in Owsley's talk.

We thank the many supporters who have contributed to Friends of America's Past. Your donations were used, in part, to support the prototyping and casting processes and the Phase 3 study imaging expenses. The teams of scientists travelled at their personal expense and donated their study time to this effort.
